Ottomancer v0.12
A free 2D particle editor that speaks an animator's language.
Open the editor ☕ Buy me a coffeeRuns entirely in your browser. Nothing to install, nothing uploaded — your projects never leave your machine. After the first visit it works offline, and your browser can install it as an app.
What it does
- A professional animator's timeline: dope sheet, keyframes, curves with their own editor, loop region, animation variants.
- Modular emitter system — emission, shape, color/size over lifetime, noise, trails, texture-sheet (flipbook) animation.
- 75 ready-made effects across nine categories — fire, magic, water, cartoon, win/celebration loops, matrix rain, comets — every one an ordinary emitter you can pull apart and make yours.
- 57 built-in sprites including animated 4×4 sheets and seamless loop sheets for glows, rays and shines.
- Every export you need: Spine-compatible JSON + atlas + PNG that drops straight into game engines, PNG sequences, WebM and MP4 video, animated WebP and GIF, SVG, and a compact web bundle with its own player.
From the maker
I'm an animator and VFX artist, not a coder. I made this tool — first under the working name Ottopia Particles, now Ottomancer — because I wanted it to exist and couldn't find it, so I built it, learning as I went.
That means two honest things: it's free, and it's not perfect. I work on it in my free time and make no money from it, so if something is rough, please be patient — reports and wishes really are read. Mostly: enjoy it, make great things, and good luck with your projects.
Support the project
☕ If Ottomancer earns a place in your toolbox, buy me a coffee.
It's free and always will be — no accounts, no ads, no tracking, and everything you make with it is yours to sell. I build it alone, evenings and weekends. A coffee is what turns "someday" features into shipped ones.
Donation links are being set up — check back soon.
Can't chip in? Telling one other artist about it helps just as much. Either way — thank you for being here.
Bugs, ideas & help
A public bug tracker and wishlist are being set up. Until then, hold on to your reports — they'll have a home soon.
One person, free time, no budget: fixes can take a while. Patience appreciated, kindness doubly so.
License, in one breath
Free for everyone, personal or commercial. Everything you make with it is 100% yours — including to sell. Just don't sell, modify, or repackage the software itself. Full license.
